Yours... or, Mine...

you look at me with hatred when I do not conform with pain you punish me, I think that is the norm relentlessly you try to shape me; do I change? I do not know myself, this just all seems strange. you tell me to pray, you instruct me to kill, you confine all my being, and preach me free will you tell me to work, and you tell me to pray...

homemade yogurt for breakfast, 25¢ for lunch

So, I gave it all away in the title. Yesterday I made homemade yogurt for the very first time. Not only was it easy, but it’s absolutely wonderful tasting! I plan on making more – eating about two quarts a month during the school year. Not only is it tasty and nutritious, it gives me something to do with milk that’s on the verge of expiration. So, that’s that. And the ridiculously cheap lunch… that’s not a one time deal....

~60lbs of groceries

Back in Chicago for a bit, planning for my next academic year. (Which is still quite some time off.) It’s been rainy, humid, and just warm enough to be uncomfortable. No real news. My okra out at the farm was finially doing well, and then it was misted by some weed killer – thanks to my uncle. Some of it is still alive; probably enough for pickling. Speaking of food, I took toady’s afternoon break from raining to make two grocery store runs....

Defeat

they sat there in utter silence permitting each earnest gaze to unleash their imagination. it whispered softly to their madness pleading with it to unleash merciless power on the psyche. it might have, but they still sat. quietly, staring in distrust back and forth amongst themselves. each glance met with an equal unsettling momentary peer of hatred and blood turned to fiery ice. anger overwhelmed its host burst into reality with a scream...

Lucky Man

exhausted, panting, hands and knees resting on sweat-covered ground worthless now, but victorious, too the soaked, pathetic-looking man stood stumbled out to the edge of the plateau and let out a resonating yell that expired whatever energy he had left. it was that moment he lived for and that moment that he died for most would say he was a lucky man.

Poetry commenting system complete... etc...

It has sure been a while since I’ve updated this blog. Shame on me. I can only try and do better. 🙂 The title says is all – you can now comment on my poetry… I’d love for you to leave me your thoughts. I’ve added a few poems recently – and will be adding more soon. Aside from doing a little work on my poetry, I’m going to be adding a recipe section to the website and will soon be attempting to unify the look of things throughout…...

End of the year...

I know, most everyone in the USA has been off for summer for quite some time now. Not me – or any other student at the University of Chicago. We’ve been studious well into June. BUT – today is my last day. A whole year gone by… actually kinda sad. I’m not feeling great about the calc 3 test tomorrow, but I’ve been studying and will continue to do so tomorrow....

Apartment Time

Well, the end of the year is approaching quickly… and University Housing is kicking me out. So, rather than put up with the system next year… I’m moving out for good. I’ve secured an apartment and have been working on it for the last few days. It’s a large studio apartment that needs some work – mostly cleaning, but a few repairs. The price is great and all utilities are included....

Ubuntu 7 on the DV9000t

Well, I’m a Fedora fan. I am dual-booting my desktop and laptop with FC6 and Vista… but tonight, breaking from writing a paper, I decided I’d try out Ubuntu 7. My first impression is great. Resolution recognized correctly, sound worked well… both common for Fedora too. It’s what’s not so common that REALLY impressed me. Ubuntu loaded the drivers I need for my Intel Pro Wireless to work (3945), this must be done manually in FC6....

That “oh, boy… final papers all done…” feeling

It’s true. Two days ahead of schedule (a.k.a. deadline) my last final paper is finished. I can sigh in relief… and then immediately start studying for Biology and Calculus finals. No sweat… well maybe a little. In a few days I’ll be worry-free and off to the great state of Minnesota where I’ll be visiting family. I can’t wait. Until next time. Pray for my tub… I’ll post more on that later....
